16th and 17th century mansion house. Eight showrooms which retrace the history of the river, fishing, coastal sea trade, ship building, and a video projection room.
In the Vilaine estuary, people knew how to exploit the river and sea resources. Fishing, coastal sea trade, shipbuilding, are all activities which have marked the Town of La Roche-Bernard.
Past memories have also been preserved from shore-based activities.
Amongst a collection of nearly 2,000 objects (models, tools, photos, costumes), are objects relating to :
- to the fishing and river fishing and river activities
- farming
- daily life in the past
- shipbuilding (including a model of the war ship "La Couronne" which was built on the orders of the Cardinal of Richelieu).
